1994 

ATS Timber is a family business, started by the Simmons Family, selling ink supplies, native and exotic timber products throughout New Zealand.

2001

Difficulty in purchasing and supplying native timbers lead to a transition to on-site milling of Radiata Pine and importing spruce timber. ATS begins to produce a wide range of products specialising in big beams and clears, adding wet treated (H5 and H6) Radiata Pine solid beams.  ATS Timber becomes a leading supplier nationwide for these specialty lines, offering a comprehensive stock range of large sizes.  With new structural timber grades and requirements ATS was one of the 1st to be certified to verify timber beams to SG8.  H3.1 LOSP clear treatment product was added to the product range.

 

2015

With demand out growing the small sawmill and having supply agreements with other local sawmills, ATS closed its sawmill.  A new architectural range of European Spruce was added to the product range.

2019

With the Simmons family wanting to step back, the business was sold to Euan, Jane and Daniel Crighton who have been part of a long established (over 78 years) family owned sawmilling business which has had an existing supply agreement with ATS for a number of years.  This guaranteed staff jobs as well as maintaining quality and supply of timber to ATS.  This would mean that the ATS key values of ‘Quality - Service - Satisfaction’ were continued and that the company could continue providing timber expertise, large variety of specialist timber sizes as well as exceptional service to our valued customers.
